“Tunnel Saint-Félix”
Ange Leccia

Invited in Nantes, Ange Leccia remembered a figurehead of the city: Jacques Demy. Like the film-maker, he has created a work whose only sight brings an escape feeling to the supernatural, the fantastic. In Saint-Félix tunnel, the boat goes through a wall of light like a passage to the unreal.

Filmed or photographic image plays a dominating part in Ange Leccia’s work. He works on it (slow-motions, photocopies, cut-outs, tears) and transforms it. Ange Leccia does not have any studio: the former is in his head, on paper, in his travels and in his numerous encounters. In his own world, he designs what he calls his “arrangements“ to bring out everyday life, to highlight the simplicity of things, to bring the visible out of the invisible.

Former resident of the “Villa Médicis” in Rome, Ange Leccia taught at Grenoble School of Arts and is now currently manager of the “Pavillon”, educational unit of the “Palais de Tokyo” in Paris.
